Introduction: Insulin regulates the activity of lipoprotein lipase, the enzyme responsible for triglyceride metabolism. Although mild hypertriglyceridemia is seen in diabetic patients, severe hypertriglyceridemia (>1000 mg/dl) is extremely rare in the pediatric population.
